“Karel Martens Revisited”
This publication was made with the intent of revisiting the work of Dutch designer Karel Martens. By emphasizing the imagery and dividing the issue in four different topics, we found a way to organise and develop our thoughts towards his work.
The issue is divided in four: Essential Concepts, Experimental Craft-Based Work, Editorial Work, and Commercial Work. With the exception of the first chapter, each chapter has its colour based on the primary set of colours used by Martens on his experimental work. The first one is black, which is the sum of the other three.
The grid and format used for this publication makes a connection to the designer through the magazine Oase, since we based all the design structure on those parameters created by Karel specially for the magazine.
